Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 2025
Personalised Intelligence ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our podcast digest service.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address - Used for authentication and account recovery
- Account preferences - Your chosen settings and configurations
Usage Data
When you use our service, we may collect:
- Favorite insights - Insights you've marked as favorites
- Viewing preferences - Your selected channels and digest preferences
Device Identifiers (With Your Consent)
If you consent to cookies/tracking, we create an anonymous identifier to:
- Remember your favorites across sessions
- Provide personalised recommendations
- Improve our service based on usage patterns
You can decline this tracking and still use our service. Your favorites will only persist for your current session.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain our service
- Personalise your experience with saved favorites
- Display community leaderboards of popular insights
- Improve and optimise our platform
- Communicate with you about your account
3. Data Storage and Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate our platform:
| Service | Purpose | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Personalised Intelligence (self-hosted) | Website hosting, sign-in/authentication, and storage of your account, favorites and insights — on our own servers | United Kingdom (London) |
| Google Fonts | Typography styling | Global CDN |
| PostHog | Product analytics and session replay (understanding how the service is used, so we can improve it) | European Union (Frankfurt) — PostHog Cloud EU |
Each of these services has their own privacy policy and data protection measures. We recommend reviewing their policies for more information.
Product Analytics & Session Replay
We use PostHog (hosted in the European Union) to measure how the service is used — which briefings and podcasts are opened, navigation, and sign-in activity — and to record session replays (a reconstruction of on-screen interactions) so we can diagnose issues and improve the experience.
Session replays are masked by default. All text content and all form inputs are obscured before anything leaves your browser, so replays capture layout and navigation but not the words on the page, your email address, or anything you type. PostHog Cloud EU does not record your IP address.
Analytics respects your consent choice (see §4). Where analytics is active, events are also written to our own first-party record on our infrastructure; that copy is tied to your account so we can understand usage within the pilot.
4. Cookies and Local Storage
We use browser local storage (similar to cookies) to store:
| Item | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
pi_cookie_consent |
Remember your privacy preference | Persistent |
pi_anon_id |
Anonymous identifier for favorites (only with consent) | Persistent |
ph_* / __ph_* |
PostHog product-analytics identifiers (set only while analytics is active) | Persistent |
Your Consent Choices
When you first visit our site, you'll see a consent banner. You can:
- Accept - Enable all features including persistent favorites and product analytics (including masked session replay)
- Decline - Use the service without analytics or replay (favorites won't persist); we stop analytics for you entirely
You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site and refreshing the page.
Pilot note. For our closed, invitation-only pilot with a partner organisation, product analytics is enabled by default for those signed-in users under the notice given to them at onboarding. If you access the service through the public sign-up, analytics stays off until you Accept. Choosing Decline stops analytics in either case.
